Genesis 18:19-22 (ESV)
God chose Abraham to be the father of our faith and the progenitor of Jesus Christ. He also chose Abraham to represent Jesus Christ, as the Mediator between God and man. Abraham stood between life and death, as it were. He stood his ground and interceded for his nephew Lot, who was about to be destroyed with the wicked people of Sodom. How may we have such intimacy with the Lord, that we, too, can “stand in the gap” for those who need God’s grace?
