Prophecy of Anti-Semitism

Peruse these haunting current headlines:

British Jews are “full of fear, like I’ve never seen before” ;

Antisemitic graffiti in Paris worries French leaders; and

Open hatred of Jews surges globally, inflamed by Gaza war.

Anti-Semitism (hostility toward Jews) is on the rise in a way not seen since the Holocaust. War has been the impetus, but the undercurrent of such hatred has been with us throughout history, and it swelled in the early twentieth century. As far as I can see on the timeline of biblical prophecy, the final crescendo of Anti-Semitism will happen under the rule of the Antichrist.

We must not forget what the Bible predicts of the future event of the “Great Tribulation” – that “the man of lawlessness”, the Antichrist, will seek to devour the entire people group of Israel (called such because they have descended from the patriarch, Jacob, whose name was changed by God to “Israel.” In fact, the Great Tribulation is referred to in Jeremiah 30:7 as “the time of Jacob’s trouble.”

The prophet Daniel follows a description of this time of end-time warfare on God’s chosen people in chapter 11, verses 40-45, with an apt reminder, “At that time [of the Great Tribulation] Michael, the great prince [archangel of Israel] who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress such as never has occurred since nations came into being until that time. But at that time all your people [the Jews] who are found written in the book will escape.” (Daniel 12:1, HCB) Jesus Himself refers to the prophecy of Daniel during His famous Olivet Discourse, as He warns that the Jews during the time of the Great Tribulation will need to “flee to the mountains” (Matthew 24:16).

Many of God’s chosen people will return to the Messiah during the time of tribulation. This will be God’s selected era to bring the Jews back to Himself. During this current age of grace, the Lord is drawing Gentiles into the kingdom of God, but He has not given up on Israel, and He will work during the end times to save them, too. (Romans 11:25-27) The world shall witness of revival of God’s chosen people, through whom God gave us His Son (Jewish, by earthly heritage) and the holy Scriptures.

The trendline we see of growing anti-Semitism is concurrent with the swelling antichrist spirit in the world. Jesus is for the Jews and the Gentiles. Jesus died for the world. He came to break down the barrier between the Jews and non-Jews (Ephesians 1:11-18). God has a special place in His heart for those He chose through whom to bless all the nations (Genesis 12:3). As the world more and more rejects the plainness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the narrative of God’s Word concerning His overarching plan for both Jews and Gentiles, we will see a move toward anti-Semitism, which will ultimately culminate with the evil, one-world ruler to come.

God brings all evil to a head, so that He may eliminate all evil and set up His righteous kingdom. Sure enough, during antichrist’s delusional reign of wickedness, God will “gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle” (Zechariah 14:2). Then, at Armageddon, the Lord Jesus Christ will win the final victory against all the earthly evil Hell could bring together in the flesh of humankind. (Revelation 19:11-21; Revelation 20:1-15)

All of the clearly outlined prophecy in the Word of God allows us to properly “discern the times” (1 Chronicles 12:32) in which we live. We must evaluate news in light of the Bible. Holding God’s Word at the helm of our heart and life, we live with confidence, knowing where current events and all of history is headed. As devastating as the newsfeed is recently, we know that the Lord is coming soon to eliminate sin. He will defeat the “man of sin,” under whom the world will soon be held in wicked lunacy.

This is no time to hang your head. This is precisely the time to live the truth and tell the truth so that people may be convicted to put their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. To tell and live the truth, you must know the truth. Pray, and then open your Bible. Read. The time is drawing near.

Artificial Intelligence in the Church

People get vehemently angry about artificial intelligence generating sermon material for spiritual leaders, and yet for years and years, we have allowed false teachers to creep into the church of Jesus Christ. Many have placed their own Bibles aside during the week. Countless ones have refused to commit Scripture to memory. Multitudes have flocked to what appear to be entertainment venues in order to be uplifted by pep talks peppered with Scripture, rather than to be honestly challenged by the sharp sword of God’s holy Word.

Now, we stand flabbergasted at artificial intelligence. Let me tell you, unknown numbers of “Christians” have been fed by demons through the watered-down, false gospel long before AI became the thing about which to be disturbed.

Far too many Christians ceased to be troubled by the trends of the modern church a long time ago. As a faith culture, we compromised with the devil when we accommodated diluted sermons, so that people could be at peace with their compromised lifestyles and lack of passion for Jesus Christ.

When the church’s view of Scripture diminished, when we could no longer tolerate long sermons and teachings, when we began to value the look of the “stage” and the “worship leaders” more than the content of the Word of God, when how our buildings appeared to the world mattered more than how the sermons appeared to the Lord God Almighty, that is when we gave in to “artificial” intelligence.

True wisdom comes from the Lord. To be precise, it is found in an honest fear of the Lord. If we had continued in sincere fear of the Almighty God, we would be less worried about artificial intelligence in the church.

Nothing is more artificial than the devil substituted for God. The greatest imposter projected to people, rather than the embodiment of Truth. And yet, here we are …

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in the later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons.” (1 Timothy 4:1)

Are You Sure You’re Going to Heaven?

Do you ever wonder if you will make it to Heaven? Do you consider your entrance into Heaven something of which you cannot be ultimately sure until you die? If so, then you need to understand that God has given us a deposit to guarantee our admission to God’s home.

Unlike a physical ticket or admission pass, God’s people receive an unbelievable gift as their guarantee for Heaven. The gift is a Person – the third Person of the Triune God, the Holy Spirit. He is the proof positive that we have access to Heaven upon our exit of this world.

We read the glorious words of 2 Corinthians 5:4-5 in the New Living Translation, “While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.”

Do you see that my insurance on a new, heavenly, undying, and sinless body is the Holy Spirit living in me? How much more proof could I possibly need, but to have God living in me moment by moment? Despite the struggles and strains of life, in my heart abides the Spirit of God, and He gives me a peace that goes past the turmoil and sadness of this life. He witnesses to my spirit that I do, in fact, belong to God and to Heaven.

Again, we read of the coming day of redemption, the time when we are fully redeemed (bought back) from brokenness and this old world. Listen to Ephesians 4:30 in the English Standard Version: “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

The Holy Spirit actually provides the seal that declares that my entrance to Heaven is as good as done! For what more could I ask?

This Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. Jesus sent His own Spirit to live in His followers when He exited the world and ascended to Heaven. That precious Spirit is the guarantee that we also will exit this world and go to Heaven. Jesus paid for my salvation, and His Spirit witnesses to my salvation. Jesus is the way to Heaven, and His Spirit is the deposit I hold for that day. Until I am able to see Jesus, I have Him living in me by His Spirit.

Did Jesus Descend to Hell?

The notion that Jesus went to Hell when He died stems primarily from the Apostles’ Creed, which states of Jesus that He “was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead.” It is vital to note that the Apostles’ Creed is not Scripture. It is a summary statement of core doctrine that was written in the second century. It was not written by the Apostles. In the creed’s earliest forms, the “descent into hell” clause is not included.

We must keep at the forefront of our minds what the Word of God says concerning the efficacy of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. His shed blood is what has freed us from our sin and made us kings and priests to God (Revelation 1:5), not some supposed suffering of Jesus in the throes of Hell. “In him we have redemption through his blood” (Ephesians 1:7). We must read the Bible both for what it says and for what it does not say. We are never instructed that our forgiveness and restored relationship with the Father has come by some torment of Jesus in the fires of Hell. We are consistently instructed that by His blood and death on the cross, we have been saved and set on the road of righteousness and Heaven. One of the most concise statements regarding where our sins were carried to the fullest extent of punishment is in 1 Peter 2:24, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.” Notice, again, the penalty for my rebellion against God was absorbed by Jesus during His work “on the tree” – not in the grave or in Hell.

In Scripture, we are presented with a statement the Apostle Peter makes in quoting a Psalm of David. Peter instructs us in Acts 2:31 that David “foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.” Sure enough, Psalm 16:10 declares, “You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.” [This is a prophecy with ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ, as affirmed by Peter in the aforementioned sermon recorded in the book of Acts.]

Note that Psalm 16:10 speaks of the Messiah not being abandoned to “Sheol” in the English Standard Version, to “Hell” in the King James Version, to the “grave” in the New Living Translation, and to the “realm of the dead” in the New International Version. Was Jesus rescued from Hell? Or was He rescued from the grave? The best rendering here is Sheol, which is also how the New American Standard Bible and the New King James Version translate the original Hebrew. In the Old Testament, Sheol was a simple – yet mysterious – reference to the place of the dead. The word “Sheol” does not differentiate between the place of death for the wicked or for the righteous; it simply means “death.”

In the New Testament, “Sheol” becomes “Hades,” when referencing the place of the unsaved dead. In other words, the Greek of the New Testament begins to differentiate the destination of the dead, according to whether the person is righteous or not. Hades is the destination of the unsaved, and “Paradise” or “Abraham’s bosom” refers to the destination of the saved at death. We read of these two separate destinations in Luke 16:19-31. In reading the words of Jesus in this text, we see the stark contrast when it comes to the death of the righteous vs. the unrighteous.

When Jesus is on the cross and speaks to the repentant thief, he promises, “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43). We find the exact same Greek word in Revelation 2:7, when referencing the tree of life that we shall one day partake of again in the New Heavens and New Earth, “To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” (See also Revelation 22:2). The Apostle Paul also uses the same Greek word for “Paradise” when he refers to the third heaven, the place of God’s presence, “And I know that this man was caught up into paradise” (2 Corinthians 12:4). Therefore, we rightfully conclude that when the Bible proclaims that Jesus was not “abandoned to Sheol,” that this does not mean that Jesus spent any time in Hell. Our Lord died; He visited the grave on our behalf. He went to the place of death, but God did not leave Him there! His body never corrupted; He rose again!

It is to be noted also that Jesus unequivocally stated that He was placing His spirit into the hands of His Father at the point of His death. (Luke 23:46) While His body stayed on the cross and then was deposited in the tomb, Christ went directly into the presence of His Father. In corroboration of the fact of Jesus going to the Father and not to Hell to finish being punished for our sin, we read in John 19:30 that the Son of God proclaimed at last on the cross, “It is finished.” Those same words are found written on papyri receipts for taxes, and the words mean, “Paid in full.” Jesus completed payment for our wickedness on the cross, where He died. Colossians 2:14 instructs, “God made us alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.” Our debt was nailed to the cross. It was not shed in Hell; it was nailed to the cross!

May I add that the finality of Hell in its eternal state, is the lake of fire. Just as the finality of Heaven in its eternal state, is the New Heavens and New Earth. No person has yet entered the final Hell. That place, said Jesus, “is prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41) The antichrist and the false prophet will be the first two people deposited into the eternal lake of fire. Satan will follow. Then, at the Great White Throne Judgment, all of Hades and Death will vomit forth its contents, and the unsaved from all ages will receive final sentencing and go to Hell, the eternal lake of fire. (Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:10, 14, 15)

So then, Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels. This is clear, straight from the mouth of Christ Jesus. Make no mistake, humans go there. However, it was always God’s intention to provide the way of escape from the torment of eternal Hell. That way is Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross. What the infinite Son of God did on finite hours on the cross could absorb all the sin of the world. Those who reject the work of infinite Jesus, will have to exist forever in a state of suffering, and still never be able to pay off the debt of sin, for we are finite beings.

Jesus was able to stand in between us and Hell. Our deposit in Hell never has to happen. Sinless Jesus stood in our place, paying the price for our sin, in the realm in which we currently live, so that we would never enter the realm of Hell, but rather live righteously in the presence of the Father. Humans end up in Hell by actively rejecting Jesus Christ and His work of salvation by His shed blood. He really died, and that was truly enough. He did not have to go to Hell – the place He created for Satan and the demons. His earthly and infinite payment was enough to blockade Hell from our destiny. Even greater, His work was enough to make the way for full restoration with God and living in His glorious presence forever.

There exist few other, enigmatic Scriptures that people point to in asserting that Jesus went to Hell and suffered. Those verses are highly debated among the best of scholars and give no impetus to the flawed premise that our sinless Savior ever suffered in Hell. The overwhelming Scriptural evidence points to a Savior who accomplished it all on the cross on which He died willingly for you and me.

What Is the Mysterious Generation of Matthew 24? – March 23, 2023

Debate abounds regarding Matthew 24:34. Is this generation those who were alive in Jesus’ day? Is it the Jewish race in general? Is it those who will be alive at the time of Jesus’ return? Much of how we interpret the entire chapter of Matthew 24 hinges on the understanding of verse 34.

What I would like to do is step back from commonly cited arguments for a moment, and instead focus on the plain flow of thought of Jesus in the immediate context of the narrative. Let us read Matthew 24:32-37.

“(32) Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; (33) so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. (34) Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. (35) Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. (36) But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. (37) For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.”

Notice first, that verses 32-33 regard seasons. Jesus beckons us to the simple truth that we are able to discern the coming of summer, because of the coming of spring. In general, we know that the season of springtime weather and plant growth points to the general time of summer. We mark the exact day on the calendar that a season changes, but we know that the weather and growth patterns do not follow a hard and fast rule. It can snow in spring. It can get be cold in summer. Flowers may pop out of the ground earlier than the calendar dictates because seasons are broad phases of time.

Jesus is first telling his disciples to discern seasons. He is beckoning them to look upon the events and foreshadowing of events of which He has spoken just previously – wars, earthquakes, famines, false teachers, antichrist influences, lawlessness, etc. These, the Lord says, are the beginnings of the birth pains (verse eight). These general occurrences will happen more frequently and more intensely as the season of Christ’s return draws nearer.

However, the Lord continues in the chapter to speak with specificity about the Abomination of Desolation that will come during the Great Tribulation (verses 15-21). Jesus warns His followers that the temple in Jerusalem that is to be rebuilt toward the end of days will be invaded by the Antichrist, as he ruthlessly pursues the Jews and all who refuse to worship him. Jesus reminds his disciples that those who live during this time are to run for the mountains to experience God’s divine protection. Then, the crescendo of events leads to the glorious second coming of the Lord, accompanied by signs in the heavens (verses 29-31).

On the heels of all this narrative, Jesus speaks of the season of His return (verses 32-33), before moving quickly to the day and hour of His return (verses 36-41). There is a great difference between a season and an hour. Seasons are broad, sweeping periods of time, while a day and hour are rather specific and narrow.

In between the season and the day/hour, Jesus declares, “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.” (Matthew 24:34-35) Notice how he uses the phrase “pass away” three times in these two verses. The emphasis is that: 1) this generation will not pass away until every detail of what Jesus has foretold happens; 2) heaven and earth will surely pass away; and 3) God’s Word will never pass away.

Do you recognize the flow of thought with Jesus mentioning “passing away” three times? He says, in effect, that there is a day that “this generation” will pass away, but it is not until every single Word that God has spoken about the end times comes true. He proclaims, in neat alignment with this thought, that heaven and earth will also pass away. The contrast is about what will not pass away – the Word of God.

In other words, Jesus is wanting us to know that not only will the world as we know it one day be gone, but “this generation” as we know it will also be gone. We must rely solely on the Word of the Lord. We are very apt to rely on things that we should not. We assume society will go on and on. We assume the universe will go on and on. The Lord makes clear that society as we know it – and the world as we know it – have an appointment of judgment with God Almighty. In the meantime, every single detail that the Lord has specified about the end times will come true. All of the book of Revelation will be fulfilled. All of the details in the prophetic parts of the book of Daniel will come true. All the events of Matthew 24 will take place. Every word of God as presented in the canon of Scripture will happen, and – after all of the events of the tribulation have concluded – then the ungodly social order that we have all lived under for so long, will be terminated. After the people are judged, then the created order itself will be judged and remade.

In fact, this is what we find in Revelation chapters 20-22. The Great White Throne Judgment is the final demise of all who have rejected Jesus and His righteous kingdom, followed by the making of a New Heaven and New Earth. I see the same flow of thought in Jesus’ words of Matthew 24:34-35. The current, godless age (this generation) will pass away first – after every Word of God is fulfilled concerning end times – then, the old heavens and earth will pass away.

The word for “generation” in the Matthew 24 text, is the same Greek word used in Mark 8:38, where Jesus declares, “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” We see here the word “generation” used to contrast the current, evil age to the time of the return of Jesus Christ. This is precisely what we see in Matthew 24! The Greek “genea” can simply mean “an age, the period or the persons.”

I believe that Jesus is giving to the disciples in Matthew 24, a clear explanation of end-time events sequence. We are to watch for the season, knowing that serves as a warning that the day/hour could come completely unexpectantly within the season. The Lord also wants to emphasize that nothing He has told us will go unfulfilled. Though the evil society we have known has an end date, and the broken creation in which we have lived has an end date, the Word of God stands forever!

Whether we are the people who see the season or see the day/hour, we live during a godless generation (or age) that must meet its end under the judgment of holy God. Jesus and His Word is our only safety in all of this.

Surely, the society of people alive at the day/hour of the return of Christ, will be the evilest of all, under the tyranny of Antichrist and the great delusion the Lord sends (2 Thessalonians 2:8-12). In a sense, that particular and literal generation also will not pass away until the Lord has fulfilled every word of His own concerning the end of time. We can apply the meaning generally to this evil age (as compared to the day the Lord reigns unhindered), or specifically to the evil time of society during the tribulation. Nonetheless, the interpretation still stands. The old has to go; the new has to come.

Are you prepared?

Spiritual Confusion – March 1, 2023

What I would say to every one of us is this: We need to be sure that whoever we listen to and learn from for our spiritual growth, centers always and primarily on the Person and work of Jesus Christ. The presentation of the reality of Jesus Christ must not be peripheral, it must not be simply mentioned in the mix of an otherwise “self-help message,” it must not be a side note; rather, the presentation of the Person and work of Jesus Christ must be altogether the central focus.

He is, in fact, the thread of all of Scripture – from Genesis to Revelation. All other issues – psychological, mental, spiritual, physical, financial, relational, society – ALL other issues are secondary to the issue of building trust in and relationship with Jesus Christ. The other issues resolve themselves in Christ, and in Christ alone.

We should walk away from any preacher/teacher thinking, “Jesus has been made bigger and clearer to me.” We should fall deeper and deeper in love with the Savior – not deeper in love with a philosophy or a method of helping ourselves.

Always discern the core and details of messages. Always weigh all things against the Bible. In this season of a growing antichrist spirit, we will find Jesus “once removed,” if you will, from many messages and teachings. He is “added in,” but He is not the focus.
It is impossible to identify every teacher/preacher/ministry/church that is biblically “off” to some degree. But IT IS possible to know and love the truth, in order to spot what is counterfeit with Holy Spirit-empowered discernment.

That is my word of advice, after having served the Lord all these years, after having taught and preached the Word all these decades in churches of many denominations, after having specialized in apologetics and Christian worldview training, after studying deeply and broadly biblical prophecy, and after growing every single minute in my pursuit of a better relationship with God, through Jesus Christ.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. (2 John 1:7)

You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is those very Scriptures that testify about Me; and yet you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. (John 5:39-40)

Putin, NATO, & Prophecy – February 23, 2023

Putin is pulling away from a strategic nuclear arms reduction treaty with the United States. He claims to be taking this dangerous action because of the United States and NATO. He seems to be angry at the growing ties of NATO nations, as they push against Putin in his attack on Ukraine.

You see, as far as Bible prophecy is concerned, Russia is the most prominent player in the coming Battle of Gog and Magog, which I believe will take place during the first half of the tribulation period. Russia, areas of the former Soviet Union, Iran, Turkey, Libya, and Sudan will all be a part of the coalition of nations that will attempt to destroy Israel, right before the Lord miraculously annihilates them all.

The power vacuum that will be created by the destruction of these nations will allow the antichrist to gain more prominence. You see, at the beginning of the tribulation, he will barter a peace treaty with Israel. Assisting him will be a western confederacy of nations (which I believe includes many European nations and, possibly, the United States, if we still exist at that time).

Therefore, we can see a growing spiritual opposition between western nations and Russia. Though Putin may not understand the greater purposes behind his aggression to the NATO alliances, things are moving in the direction that the Bible says they will go.

The Gog and Magog of Bible prophecy will hate the antichrist and the western confederacy for aligning with Israel. This will provoke an attack, and then an utter defeat of Gog and Magog. The power vacuum created sets up the antichrist to throw off his pledge to Israel and the western nations, so that he may demand worship of himself and rule the world for three-and-one-half years (the Great Tribulation).
Hence, we observe many, recent, uncanny news reports. In “USA Today” on February 22, 2023 we read, “[Putin] plans to bolster Russian ties to India, Iran, and other countries in the Middle East.” And similarly, in the same edition, “NATO has bolstered its troop presence in Europe. And NATO countries have provided military and other support to Ukraine.”

Ukraine sits on the border of NATO nations and Russia. We see in NATO and the European Union shadows of the future western confederacy, from which antichrist arises. We know that Russia is the main player in the aggression of the Battle of Gog and Magog to attack Israel and all antichrist’s leaders who will be temporarily standing with Israel after the rapture of the Church of Jesus Christ.

True Christians must awake to biblical prophecy! If things pertaining to the tribulation period are taking shape this rapidly, how soon must the rapture be!

Artificial Intelligence – February 14, 2023

Artificial Intelligence

Serious-minded Christians (and I’m doubtful there is any other kind) ought to be sure they know how to navigate their paper-bound Bibles, how to use Bible commentaries and dictionaries, and how to discern between true and false teachers and preachers. We better also be digesting and studying the Bible at a level that enables our minds to begin connecting all parts of the entire counsel of God’s Word, that we might evaluate everything else in life through the lens of the Bible. We ought to be conscientiously dependent on the Holy Spirit for wisdom and discernment.

Why is this pressing on my heart? One reason is because artificial intelligence (AI) is here to stay, and it has advanced by astronomical degrees. Microsoft has developed (and continues to refine) a new version of its Bing search engine that utilizes ChatGPT by OpenAI. A recent article in the USA Today newspaper warned of inaccuracies and slants against conservative viewpoints. Additionally, another article in the same paper noted that Microsoft created an AI model that works behind the scenes to decide what resources to use to answer your question or request.

We know that search engines have always had inherent flaws and biases. This is only going to grow worse, and it is growing worse very quickly.

All of this, my friends, is being used by the antichrist spirit to pull people further and further from God’s truth by bias, deception, and dependence on artificial intelligence, rather than on the human mind God has created and graciously given.

It is the human soul in which the Holy Spirit resides when a person trusts in Jesus for salvation from sin. The Holy Spirit does not reside in artificial intelligence. AI has no ability to depend on God. AI cannot willfully submit to the Lord.

We CAN submit to Jesus. And we better. And we ought to get very serious about our knowledge of, and relationship with, the Lord. The beginning of the end is upon us.

– Shelli Prindle

“The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)

Prophecy Pieces

There is much going on in the continents of Europe and Asia. The nations of NATO continue to grapple with Russia’s horrendous war on Ukraine. Turkey has experienced devastating earthquakes. Unrest continues ad infinitum with Israel and surrounding countries. China and America are at odds over spy balloons.

Please think about something. The world began in the Middle East. Over there between the Tigris and Euphrates River is where the Garden of Eden was likely located and where the Tower of Babel incident occurred. Where God started the world, is where it will end.

Russia and Turkey are part of the nations of Gog and Magog, a league of powers that will come against Israel in the end-times but will be utterly destroyed by a miraculous intervention of the Lord. (Ezekiel 38-39)

Turkey boasts the home of Mount Ararat, where Noah’s ark landed. Also, the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers are sourced in this country.

Ukraine is on the border of Russia and European nations. Russia will stand against the antichrist, who himself will be aligned with a western confederacy of leaders based in the area of Europe. Antichrist will temporarily protect Israel and promote the reinstatement of temple sacrifices in Jerusalem. Once Russia and other nations are defeated by the Lord, even as they come against Israel and antichrist, the door will be opened for antichrist to become a world leader during the second half of the tribulation, known as “The Great Tribulation.” (Revelation 13, Matthew 24:21)

China will no doubt be a part of “the kings of the east” who march over the newly dried Euphrates River for the Battle of Armageddon in Israel. (Revelation 16:12-16) Of course, King Jesus will utterly destroy all the powers that unite against Him in the end-time war. Then, comes the Millennial Reign of Christ!

It is incredible to realize how the Bible has prophesied events that are yet to happen, but as good as done. We see every piece sliding into place.

Read the news through the lens of the unchanging and eternal Word of God!

Only Two Options – January 25, 2023

Only Two Options

After an intense study of Scripture, including end-time prophecies, it occurs to me that we have only one of two options regarding the sword of the Spirit, God’s holy Word. Either 1) we use it as a weapon against the powers of darkness as we yield to Jesus, or 2) it is used by Jesus as a weapon against us, if we are on the side of darkness.

At the Battle of Armageddon:

“And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.” (Revelation 19:21)

For Believers Today:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. . . Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. . . and take . . . the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God …” (Ephesians 6:12-13, 17)

Why Did Jesus Not Know the Time of His Return – January 25, 2023

Why Did Jesus Not Know the Time of His Return

There is a Scripture that, at first glance, seems confusing. Matthew 24:36 declares about the day of the Lord’s return, “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”

We ask the question, “How could it be that Jesus Christ would not know the day or hour of His own return?” We must begin by remembering a few things. Jesus is and was one hundred percent God and one hundred percent human. In His first coming, Jesus came precisely to pay for our sins and provide salvation. In doing so, He limited Himself in many ways.

First of all, Jesus is God, so He is omnipresent. That means that He is all places at all times, and yet, Christ limited Himself to one body, to walk on this earth one place at a time. Jesus is omnipotent; He has all power. Yet, He did not use the power available to Him many times, as when He was nailed to the cross. He could have stopped all that, and He could have used His power in many ways, but He willingly chose not to, in order to provide our full salvation.

It is the same with the omniscience of Jesus. He knows everything, but He chose not to operate by that omniscience in every situation. The instance of Matthew 24:36 happens to be one of those situations. When He came the first time, He descended and lived here in order to make a way for us to be right with God. Jesus knew, that for Him to tell us the day and hour of His return, would be to stop us from being always prepared.

As a matter of fact, just a few verses after this, Jesus shares a parable to speak of the fact that somebody who thinks that Jesus will be delayed – that the Master is not returning soon – is somebody that is actually a hypocrite, who is not truly living for the Lord. (Matthew 24:48-51) We are to always be waiting for Jesus. We are not to know when the rapture of the church is going to take place, so that we are perpetually ready. That is called the imminent return of Christ.

Does Jesus know the point of His return, now that He has been restored to the glory of the Father in Heaven (John 17:5)? I believe that, yes, He does. However, on earth, He withheld that information from even Himself, so that He could instruct us in the way to live and be right with God.

Make Haste – December 16, 2022

Make Haste

The shepherds heard from the Lord through angels, and then they desired to see the fulfillment of prophecy with their own eyes, so the Bible tells us that they “went with haste” to find Jesus. These words strike me for a couple of reasons.

First, the Lord told the shepherds that the Savior had been born and that the sign of His coming was “you will wind a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:11) What? God is coming to earth and He will be wrapped up in pieces of cloth and lying in a feeding trough for animals? That seems rather odd. The sign is not to look for a palace and a king in a beautiful robe? The sign of the redeeming work of the all-powerful God through His Son is a tiny baby in a stable?

Second, after receiving this supernatural word from angelic sources, the shepherds head off to find a baby in a feeding trough in the City of David with haste! The sign is nothing glorious or earth-shaking. The sign is disguised in humble circumstances. The sign is not something most of the world would value and go after. Nonetheless, the shepherds felt compelled to move with unction to find what God had promised, even if it did not seem outwardly glorious. The shepherds knew this plan and this sign were from God, and so they sought the Savior with an earnestness. No dilly-dallying or half-hearted seeking.

My friend, we, too, have received supernatural communication from God. The Bible. The Lord implores us to look for Jesus in the ordinary stuff of this broken world. It may not seem glamorous, and we may often think, “Is He really HERE?” Can I find and have the Savior of the world? Yes. Yes, you surely can. Jesus is still working – by His Holy Spirit – in this world, so broken and mundane as it can be.

Hasten to find Him. Look in His Word. Pray in His name. Seek His face through time with Him.

And not only that. Let the shepherds be an example for us in the era in which we live. The Lord has told each one of His followers that we ought to be “waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God,” because “according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:12, 13)

I know it does not appear that Jesus is going to break through the sky at any time and make the world new. But He is! He is working in the dailiness of living. He is working toward this end, as we seek Him and proclaim His Gospel to the world. Through our passion for Him and yielding to Him in the work of the Gospel, we are hastening the day of His return!

Let the shepherds be for us an example of how a heart for the Lord really looks and acts. Receive the truth of Jesus, and then earnestly run toward Him and His grand plan for the universe!

“When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.’ And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:15-16)
